It is virtually guaranteed that there is a point of time in winter that you wished you got a propane outdoor heater. It may have occurred to you the previous year as well though you never got round to it. Assuming you need work done in your garage and start finding yourself freezing out there. Or perhaps it might be in the basement instead. In any case, this happened last year and nothing has been done about it except still feeling cold and freezing your toes off.

It does not mean that when you purchase a propane heater it will start turning the North Pole suddenly into a tropical climate. It is a good dream but please lower your expectations. What it will do is warm the room and make it more comfortable. However, it’s not time yet to start donning swimming trunks.

Choosing to use a propane heater over something like an electric heater will inadvertently save you money in the long run. An electric heater might cost less initially but the cost of electricity just to keep you warm will be more expensive than if you use propane gas instead as a heat source.

Propane heaters are proven to be safe but you need to take some precautions. Avoid using the heater in a room that is not ventilated. This is highly risky due to the build up of carbon monoxide and can have fatal consequences. Ensure that the room is well ventilated. Using it outdoors will not be much of a concern but all the same, make sure you get plenty of fresh air.

There are other safety tips while using a propane heater. Using a heater in the proximity of old paint cans and other flammable items are a huge no-no. Getting it to close to any of those and there is the risk of a fire breaking out. Make sure to check if the heater has an automatic shutoff in case it gets knocked over. Ensure that it comes with an oxygen depletion sensor that will turn itself off if not enough oxygen is present in the room.

Search for propane heaters that come with heat settings that are adjustable. With this you can control the temperature rather than using a cheap model that only has an on/off switch. Always check to see that the warranty is at least 1 year and that it is CSA certified for safety.
